We’ve got a few bits and pieces to update you on.

First of all, you may have heard that These Arms Are Snakes have split up after 7 years. We’re proud to have worked with them and look forward to their new projects.

In happier news, we’ve now secured distribution in the UK for the new single via Cargo which means you can pick it up in your local record shop (as well as online from us). Kind words for the single are starting to come in, including Single of the Week at Norman Records!

To finish: here’s a video of These Arms Are Snakes performing Meet Your Mayor from the split single last year:

Remember that new 7” we’ve been talking about for – ohh I don’t know – 8 months? Well it’s complete! Don’t thank us. Just dig it.

This is one of those moments like when I ordered that Dead Meadow CD and it didn’t arrive for ages, and I was getting really antsy waiting for the postman every day. It was Howls From The Hills, which you of course know is a little tickler of a record. So I waited and waited and then one day, probably after I’d given up hope, it just popped through the door. That feeling there – right there – that’s how you probably feel now.

So if you’re a regular reader you’ll know this is once again a transatlantic split 7”, this time between Lords from the UK, and Black Feelings from Canada. See the previous news update for a proper introduction…

Both tracks from the record can now be heard on our Facebook page. Why not friend us while you’re there (or whatever verb we’re supposed to be using these days)?

The new record was once again mastered at Abbey Road by our buddy Christian Wright. It comes in a heavy PVC outer sleeve, heavy card hand-numbered stock and a fine heavy weight burgundy vinyl. It’s a real peach. A burgundy peach.

The record is for sale now here on the site, and released officially into shops at the end of January through Cargo. As an added bonus, we have a few copies of We-Be # 1 remaining and you can buy both for £7 including postage. A saving of £500. Can’t say better than that.

Best Wishes,

Team We Be

x

The Lords / Black Feelings split 7″ has now been mastered at Abbey Road – where I walked past Paul McCartney (not that anyone believes me) – and it will be going to press this week. Artwork has now been finalised too as you can see.

Pretty bloody nice, eh?! This one is coming on purple vinyl as we heard J Mascis only buys purple things. Release date on this is still TBC, but likely to be early January.

Watch out for Lords related movements at the moment. Chris and Elvis can both be found in Felix, whose debut record You Are The One I Pick is released on the wonderful Kranky label on October 26th. It’s really bloody good. Chris can also be found in Kogumaza, another new band, who have been playing shows with Zomes, Bellini, Growing and Billy Mahonie. BILLY BLOODY MAHONIE!!

Keeps your eyes locked on the Black Feelings site too. Shows popping up here and there around the release of their debut self-titled record on October 13th, through Alien-8 Recordings. The record’s good, real good. Real good like the cakes your mother used to make.

Finally, our respect goes out to our friend Ace in the US who turned art into art. This came about after the tag-team of the Royal Mail and USPS laid waste to our first single:

Friends,

It’s been a while. Take that as a sign of things to come.

After the roller coaster ride that was our first release, culminating in a sold-out show at Islington Academy, featuring both bands along side the crushing power of Russian Circles, we’re putting in place the pieces for KONG002…and once again it’s big. REAL BIG.

It’s another trans-atlantic split 7″, this time featuring, from the UK, Lords, and from Canada, Black Feelings.

Here at We Be we’ve been fans of Lords since day zero. They’re one of the premier rock units from the UK, and put the majority of our friends across the pond to shame. They should be as popular as eating and thinking combined. They have released two awesome albums on the mighty Gringo label, have shared stages with Shellac, The Groundhogs (THE GROUNDHOGS!!!), Part Chimp, Dead Meadow, Bilge Pump and many many more. They will be appearing at the ATP Vs. The Fans festival in Minehead on May 9th.

Black Feelings are our new friends from Montreal, brought to our attention by the integral third wheel of We Be, Miss Jane Abernethy, from the wonderful Caspian Label. They are a 3-piece, playing what can only be described mind-melting-psychedelic-kraut-groove. They’ve just completed their first tour of the US and continue to play Canadian shows. They have an album recorded which will be released in the autumn. They’re incredible, and we’re honoured they’re involved.

We’re aiming to have the record in shops sometime in July, this time distributed by Cargo.

More news to come soon,

Welcome one and all!

We-Be Records is a new independent record label. That’s about all there is to tell about us at the moment…oh, apart from the fact that we are both big fans of the movie War Games and would eventually like to reissue the soundtrack.

We are proud to have as our first release a split 7″ between These Arms Are Snakes and Tropics. Pressed on heavy white vinyl and limited to 500 copies, it was mastered at Abbey Road studios which is why it sounds so damn smokin’ hot.

It’s released to coincide with the bands’ forthcoming tour along with Russian Circles in November. We advise that you pre-order it from us now, to ensure you don’t miss out on what is sure to become ‘The Futurist of 2008′.

We are also offering a free MP3 from Tropics; the track ‘Dead Lips’. To download this track, please join our mailing list to the right.<br/
