Caretaker “Providence” out March 12th
13th January, 2012
Almost 2 years since our last update, We Be Records is back! We’re very pleased to announce the release of Providence by Caretaker on March 5th March 12th 2012. The whole album is available to stream right now on the Caretaker website or via the player below.
PR blurb:
After a lengthy absence, Caretaker have returned with their most expansive and ambitious offering to date. Boasting a heavier, more progressive sound than on previous excursions, ‘Providence’ captures the intensity of the band’s visceral live performances whilst also offering brooding, fragile guitar pieces which provide brief respite amongst the chaos.
Drawing on the raw aggression of acts such as Converge and Neurosis, whilst still accommodating the slow-burning intent of previous post-rock influences like Slint and Mogwai, Caretaker have produced a record that truly represents the full scope of their sound.
We are taking pre-orders for the CD release but it will also be in the shops and all the usual download stores in March – more information closer to the date. A UK tour is also in the pipeline.
In other news, we’re down to the last dozen copies of the These Arms Are Snakes / Tropics split single so if you’ve been holding out for the last 3 years then now is the time to buy it. Why not buy it as part of our “oh god, we need to shift some stock” bundle sale?
It’s good to be back and we look forward to a much more productive year!
The Snakes are dead, long live the Lords
24th March, 2010
We’ve got a few bits and pieces to update you on.
First of all, you may have heard that These Arms Are Snakes have split up after 7 years. We’re proud to have worked with them and look forward to their new projects.
In happier news, we’ve now secured distribution in the UK for the new single via Cargo which means you can pick it up in your local record shop (as well as online from us). Kind words for the single are starting to come in, including Single of the Week at Norman Records!
To finish: here’s a video of These Arms Are Snakes performing Meet Your Mayor from the split single last year:
Lords / Black Feelings single out now!
9th December, 2009
Remember that new 7” we’ve been talking about for – ohh I don’t know – 8 months? Well it’s complete! Don’t thank us. Just dig it.
This is one of those moments like when I ordered that Dead Meadow CD and it didn’t arrive for ages, and I was getting really antsy waiting for the postman every day. It was Howls From The Hills, which you of course know is a little tickler of a record. So I waited and waited and then one day, probably after I’d given up hope, it just popped through the door. That feeling there – right there – that’s how you probably feel now.
So if you’re a regular reader you’ll know this is once again a transatlantic split 7”, this time between Lords from the UK, and Black Feelings from Canada. See the previous news update for a proper introduction…
Both tracks from the record can now be heard on our Facebook page. Why not friend us while you’re there (or whatever verb we’re supposed to be using these days)?
The new record was once again mastered at Abbey Road by our buddy Christian Wright. It comes in a heavy PVC outer sleeve, heavy card hand-numbered stock and a fine heavy weight burgundy vinyl. It’s a real peach. A burgundy peach.
The record is for sale now here on the site, and released officially into shops at the end of January through Cargo. As an added bonus, we have a few copies of We-Be # 1 remaining and you can buy both for £7 including postage. A saving of £500. Can’t say better than that.
Best Wishes,
Team We Be
